• Several local athletes took home weekly awards from the Ohio River Valley Conference on Wednesday.

Southwestern’s Riley Scroggins was the co-player of the week in volleyball, sharing the honor with South Ripley’s Brionna Linkel. Scroggins had 28 kills, served at 79% and had 31 aces in five matches for the Rebels.

Shawe’s Calli Alderman and Switzerland County’s Claire Rogers shared the award in girls cross country while Switzerland’s Cooper Hon shared the boys cross country award with Milan’s Ben Riehle.

Southwestern’s Mizael Hernandez-Perez scored eight goals in two matches to earn the award in boys soccer.

• Trimble County’s James Thomas Wilcoxson has been named North Central Kentucky Conference football player of the week for the week of Sept. 22.

Wilcoxson rushed for 135 yards and two touchdowns and passed for 74 yards for the Raiders last week.

• Carroll County’s Zayn Satchwell and Courtney Strickland have been named North Central Kentucky Conference players of the week for the week of Sept. 15.

Satchwell picked up the award in football after rushing for 235 yards on 16 carries and four touchdowns in the Panthers’ win.

Strickland was honored in volleyball after scoring 11 points and getting five aces against Switzerland County and five kills, nine digs and an ace against Henry County.

• Shawe Junior High boys cross country won a three-way meet at Jac-Cen-Del on Wednesday with a perfect score of 15 points.

Cavaan Hambrick won the meet in a time of 11:53 for the Hilltoppers. Ayden Dempler ran fourth, Parker Yowler was sixth, Cohenn Hambrick was seventh, Sam Gish eighth, Jayden Kinman ninth, Mason Wheeler 10th, Jackson Thevenow 12th and Christian Wheeler 13th.

Shawe’s next meet is today at the Duke Meyer Invitational at Hanover College.

• Madison junior varsity volleyball defeated Jeffersonville 25-24, 25-19 on Thursday.

Marley Stivers was 13-for-13 serving with an ace and five kills, Hannah Combs was 7-of-9 serving with three aces and seven kills, Juliana Davis was 8-for-8 serving with five kills and 14 digs, and Audrey Miller had 20 assists.

Madison travels to Lawrenceburg on Monday and hosts Jennings County on Tuesday.

• Shawe junior varsity volleyball lost 25-22, 25-19 at home to Milan on Wednesday.

Jamison Williams was 7-of-10 serving with two aces, five kills and 15 digs for the Hilltoppers. Julia Leatherman was 6-for-7 serving with an ace, nine digs and two kills, and Kelly McClure had two kills, five digs and five assists.

Shawe, now 12-6 overall and 3-1 in the Ohio River Valley Conference, traveled to Christian Academy of Indiana on Friday and heads to Rising Sun on Monday.

• Madison seventh grade volleyball swept Seymour 25-17, 25-23 on Wednesday.

Natty Montgomery had nine ace serves and four kills for the Bears, Claire Miller had eight aces and 12 setting attempts, Izzy True had six aces, and Emily Foster had two aces.

Madison, now 10-3 on the season, travel to Southwestern next Wednesday.

• Shawe Junior High girls soccer lost 4-0 at Greendale on Thursday.

Shawe, now 5-2-1 on the season, hosts Switzerland County on Tuesday.

• Madison Junior High boys soccer defeated Austin 6-0 on Wednesday.

Hudson Hall had three goals to lead the Bears while Evan Elliott, Gabriel Pattison and Giovani Robledo Lopez also scored. William Overpeck and Garrett Klein each had assists and Gavin Noble and Patrick Stewart were cited for great play.

• Shawe defeated Southwestern 3-2 in coed soccer Wednesday in Hanover.

Gus Grote scored all three goals for the Hilltoppers. Grant Armbrecht and Ava Flint led the defense.

On Thursday, Shawe defeated Lawrenceburg 3-2. Grote had two more goals for the Hilltoppers and Joseph Hart scored one.

Shawe is now 8-5-1 on the season, travels to Jac-Cen-Del on Monday.
